The Photo Tool has been enhanced with a new intelligent image scaling technology that allows images to be stretched or squashed while retaining the proportions of important parts of the picture.
This can provide a near miraculous ability to stretch and change the aspect ratio of photos, without apparently distorting the content of the photo.
Take this example of a photo of the famous Torii Gate in Japan. The first photo is the original, clearly the gate itself is the main subject of this picture. The second photo has been stretched in the normal way with the Selector tool. Even with moderate stretching it's obvious the proportions of the gate have been badly distorted. In the third photo we've using Content Aware Scaling - and now the gate proportions are in tact even at this extreme stretch, which is twice as wide as the original.
