The latest news, offers and tutorials from Xara

In this month's edition...

  • Bullet lists are a pretty common requirement in any document or website, so current Xara Designer titles offer some comprehensive list controls. We take a closer look in this month's Featured Tutorial. Owners of all Designer titles should also check out the Featured Movie which explores the Screen Capture utility in the Utilities menu.

  • We've just announced updates to both Web Designer Premium and Designer Pro X under our 365 day Update Service (see Other News below). So if you are still using v11 or older then this is a perfect moment to take advantage of our current upgrade offers on both Web Designer Premium and Designer Pro X, see the Featured Offers below.

  • Also don't miss Inspirational Art, another great selection of recent images, mainly from the Art Gallery forum on TalkGraphics.

Our pick of Top Talk this month:
  • Rik's latest number puzzle in Off Topic definitely requires some lateral thinking. With that warning in mind, you can join in here - just don't blame us if you don't like the answer! For a more graphical challenge you can always rely on the Scribble Challenge, there are some very inventive entries this month.

  • Thank you Egg and Rik for your Google map pin illustrations (you can download the xar files here, Rik's includes a mini-tutorial).

If you've created graphics you'd like to share with the wider Xara community then TalkGraphics is the perfect place to do it!
Movie // The Xara Screen Capture Utility

If you need a screen capture then Print Screen often serves the purpose. But sometimes you need something a bit more clever - for example when you want to capture the mouse pointer. All the current Designer titles include a Screen Capture utility that can solve the problem. Discover what it can do for you in the latest movie in our YouTube channel.

Hints & Tips

Solid Drag vs Outline Drag
Xara offers solid interactive drag and resize. But if you have a really complicated drawing or a slow machine it can sometimes be better to just show outlines rather than solid drag. This is easy to do. While dragging an object just tap the Tab key. Now all drag, resize and rotate actions show outline only. Simply do the same again to switch back to solid drag.
